Gary W. Dennis
Gary W. Dennis, 50 of Petoskey, died May 7, 1997, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, at the First Christian Church in Petoskey.
The Rev. Rex Kibler will officiate and burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Gary was born Feb. 10, 1947, in Petoskey, the son of Arthur and Helen (Burkhardt) Dennis.
He grew up in Petoskey and attended Petoskey schools, where he graduated from Petoskey High in 1965.
He also earned an Associate's Degree in transportation from the Community College of the Air Force.
On Sept. 27, 1989, he married Raquel (Rachel) Torrez in San Antonio, Texas.
He entered the Air Force in 1970, during which time he served in various places around the world.
He received many commendations during his military career.
After his retirement from the military in September 1991, he returned to Petoskey,
where he was the Disabled Veterans Outreach worker for the MESC in Petoskey.
His hobbies included computers and working on his house.
He was a member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 669, and the First Christian Church,
where he served as a deacon and was a member of the church choir.
Survivors include his wife, Rachel; six children, Karen Dennis of St. Petersburg, FL, Sherri Dennis of Petoskey,
Jennifer DeCapua of Petoskey, and Megan Dennis, Ashley Dennis and Alissa Dennis, all at home;
his mother, Helen Dennis, of Petoskey; brothers, Arthur Dennis and his wife, Sharon of New Baltimore, Mich.,
and David Dennis and his wife, Eileen, of Petoskey.
He was preceded in death by his father Arthur Dennis.
